Girls on Tour

I have just had a lovely two day trip with my friend Penny who has had a knee replacement and this was her treat after weeks of being confined.
We took the overnight to St Malo with the usual lovely dinner eaten as we sailed from Portsmouth, the restaurant was packed with enthusiastic diners, I think it is so shortsighted to withdraw the restaurant from a lot of the crossings and just have the self service..they must have their reasons.
The ramp went down to a wonderful sunny morning, I follow the weather on the Anglo/Breton web site and to my relief it has steadily improved all week. Both of us had not been to Dinan for some years so decided to have a visit, unfortunately Claude who is a textile dealer was on holiday this week so we were not able to visit her  but it was market day ..I love French Markets, the artisan bakers and basket makers so much part of the scene.
Down the side streets off the market sqaure in the old Town are many suprises and specialist shops...just look at this , a costume maker ..look at those shoes !

we then drove down to the "Port" which is at the head of the Rance Estuary and did a spot of watching the world go by over a coffee .... It is wonderful how quickly one can slip into the lifestyle given good weather , I love the whole cafe thing
