Talent for Textiles at The American Museum

Thank you all for coming along to make this event an amazing day.
We so enjoyed seeing all our friends and enthusiastic customers who excelled themselves in their capacity to fill bags !! phew ! did not have time to see the exhibition and barely time to eat but it was such a buzz and such a lovely day.
Thank you Elizabeth for your amazing efforts on our behalf.
I have mislaid my camera so pictures will have to come from Lizzie perhaps unless I find it amongst the textiles!

Ref. " show us your sheds " Sara's with all mod cons !

My friend Sara lives on the cliffs overlooking Portland Harbour and is a great gardener and also a very artistic maker of all manner of things. This is her shed and as you see it has all mod cons !
Sara will be at Our Christmas Market with some lovely hand made goodies sharing with Eileen felt maker and textile artist extraordinaire Their stall will be one to put on your list for some perfect gifts

Nostalgia

Out and about this weekend in various fields and markets I still can't resist a bit of old wood, polishing makes a lovely respite from ironing.
I fell in love with this, just look at the color of that paint.
I spent a happy hour before supper giving it a good polish, it will be a lovely holder for jars of buttons or ......
In another life before I was a textile dealer this is what I did

Cornwall and Cowslip

Lizzie and I had such a wonderful time at Cowslip, we are made so welcome and are always under the spell of the amazing atmosphere as soon as we get there.
This is the view from my bedroom across the valley. I had spotted some very distinctive trees on the skyline with little white dots on the green hillside , sheep of course but I am thinking in terms of French knots! I need much better camera equipment to capture what I wanted or different light perhaps ,but it is in my head so that will so.
I am working up to starting a sketchbook just have"nt got all the bits together from different notebooks.
I am always inspired when I go to Cowslip Workshops they are lovely and so full of enthusiasm I have to come away with a new project ...or two !
Lizzie and I met these little darlings on the back road to Cowslip, I have a much better feel for the geography of the place now especially after our little diversion to the North Coast.
We met some lovely people and they all seemed to enjoy our goodies, we have some regulars now and it is lovely to see what they are doing with what they buy.
Christmas event is our next visit November 20th - 22nd

Just what the girl about Town needed on her travels

Is'nt this lovely! so much of it's time. I have been out at the various markets and this is my favourite this weekend.
I can picture some elegant young thing about to board the Liner, in this case a Dutch passenger label. Equally it would not be out of place on The Orient Express or a vintage car. Just the thing for a weekend house party.
